Poseidon

Poseidon was a god in many different cultures. in Athens, he was second only to Athena in importance, while in Corinth and many cities of Magna Graecia he was the chief god of the polis or the sea. In his benign aspect, Poseidon was seen as creating new islands and offering calm seas. Poseidon's family conisted of his parents: Cronus and Rhea, his siblings: Hades, Demeter, Hestia, Hera, and Zeus, and his children: Theseus andTriton. Poseidon always carried a trident with him. His trident is one of his symbols along with the fish, dolphin, horse, and bull. In Roman Mythology there was a take off of Poseiden. The Roman version was named Neptune and he was also the god of the sea.
