In Greek mythology, Orthrus (also called Orthros, Orthos, Orthus, Orth and Orphus) was a two-headed dog . Orthus was the two-headed hound of Geryon. Orthus was the monster offspring of Typhon and Echidna. Orthus was probably the father of the Sphinx by Echidna. Geryon was the king of Erytheia in Spain. He owned of large herds of the white cattle. Geryon had Orthus guarded his prized cattle. Heracles killed Orthus and Eurytion, Geryon's herdsman, before taking the cattle back to Greece.
