Chaos

In the ancient greek times the Chaos beleived to have been a silent abyss that which all things came to exist from. According to the Theogony and Hesiod, Chaos generated the solid mass the earth is today. They say that the Chaos made earth arise from the Heavans. Mother Earth and Father Heaven personified respectively as Gaea and her offspring Uranus, were the parents of the Titans. In a later theory, Chaos is the formless matter from which the cosmos, or harmonious order was created.

Uranus the father of the titans and monsters, the husband of Gaea hated his chidren. Uranus locked his children away in a secret place in the Earth. Gaea was angry that he had favored and persuaded their son Cronos to overthrow his father. Cronos slayed Uranus and the Giants, three avenging goddesses, and Erinyes were brought forth to help. Gaea had one last offspring which was the most terrifying of all the offspring, his name was Typhon, a 100 headed monster, who although conquered by Zeus, was believed to throw foward the molten lava that flows from Mount Etna.vessel.jpg
