This site as links to other informative pages including a timeline from 1629 to 1992, arrest and death warrants, and a quiz: You're Accused.
I tried the quiz and all it told me, over and over, was that it was too late. I WAS GOING TO DIE ANYWAY. I didn't feel very cheerful after that.
So if you say yes you live, and if you say no you…….die?
It isn't suposed to make you feel cheerful.
but i could've escaped if it would have let me! i'm a fast runner!
that quis was stupid all it said was to late or somthing and guys only had one choice
I choose this topic because I enjoy reading by historical hysteria, such as this one.
1. Important subjects are:
2. The former history of witchcraft accusation in Europe
3. The colonization of Salem, Massachusetts
4. The signs of a witch
5. The story of the black book, the raven, ect.. (the devil)
6. The attitudes and actions of the accused and their accusers
7. The Puritan community
8. Religion being joined with the government
9. Torture to confess (choking, jailing, pressing with stones, ect…)
10. Later apologies to the families and for the accused
It was my favorite book our language class as read this year. Yet there are different versions about the Salem witch trials that I liked better.
you only have 9 actully ryan
Good catch. She does only have nine listed
I decided to be nice and take your quiz, and after the first, yes the FIRST, question, they told me i would probably be hung and that i should choose another option. :((((( [quadruple chin frowny]
I chose "get pregnant quick!" and it told me it was too late. apparently I couldn't get pregnant fast enough. huh!
guys dont even have that
I really liked the quiz. It really taught me alot!
Just curious, what do people think about this book? How does it compare to other books we've read? Please post your thoughts in a reply on this thread.
Personally, it's not my favorite book, but I think it's better than other books we've read.
I loved this book. This was my favorite book (not really a book, though, more of a play) because I liked the challenge. The way it was written made it harder to read but since it was short, I could read it over and over again. Plus, I liked all the weird tensions between characters. I just wished the Abigail girl would have stayed to see John Proctor be hung.
I also liked it because I loved the movie. ;P
I thought that because of the format of the book it was a little hard to follow.
I agree, it wasn't that bad. But then again I've read even better ones. I think it's different because you're faced with the plot of people dieing against will, which is different and makes the reader feel different as well.
The only thing I had wrong with it was that it was a play, and I found it infuriating that we had to read that type of format. I liked the story line, but I didn't really like reading it. It's one of those books where the description on the back is more interesting that the actual book. To Kill a Mockinbird and The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-time Indian were both better.
"Infuriating"? I think that every type of book you read, every style, is a different experience and that you should have an OPEN MIND, Savannah! (Although maybe I'm being a hypocrite, because I couldn't always keep up with the way everyone talked in To Kill a Mockingbird.)
The Crucible? It's ok, but I personally liked The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian. I think I would've enjoyed the book more if it was not in play form, because I thought it was hard to understand because of the play format.
it wasnt hard to follow along it just made it easy to get lost if you wernt paying much attension
Max is going in with zander
Max, just curious what is your image of?
Chimera from a game.
RESISTANCE 2!!!!!!!!!
good game i got to play it once
I agree with Becca…
Yah..thats kind of wierd.
But thats just what i say.
Picture;Picture;Picture
I chose this subject because i find it interesting.
I would probably find:
1.Information about the people.
2.The trials.
3.What happened.
4.What people did.
5.How people reacted.
6.What stories people said to other people.
7.Facts.
8.How many people died.
9.What people didnt die.
10.Why people werent believed.
no one knows that much about it and howmany people died
I think this story is interesting because it shows somewhat how nieve people were back then. I do honestly think that if something like that were to happen in modern times people would think they were all crazy and should be sent to a mental hospital to get their brains examined. :)
Back then people just freaked out and killed people due to some mass hyseria that wasn't truly proven to have been real. LAME, yet interesting.
But the same thing happened with McCarthyism, just without DEATH, and after 9/11 when we all got angry with Muslims.
10 topics:
1. How people reacted after the witch trials
2. What happened to the supposid "whitches" in Salem
3. Could you easily fake being a witch
4. Could anything like this happen again in the future
5. Who began the idea of the Salem Witch trials
6. What influenced the girls to act so strangely
7. Personal information about the citizens of Salem
8. Is every event in the crucible accurate
9. How Salem was after the trials
10. How is salem today
And islams.
aren't muslims and islams the same thing?
hew cares
The Crucible was kind of a weird book to read. It really didn't make much sense most of the time, but it still was an okay book. It did teach alot about witch trials.__
