Cerberus

Cerberus is the gigantic hound which guarded the gates of Haides and was also said to be the watchdog of the underworld. He was posted to prevent ghosts of the dead from the living. Cerberus is a three-headed dog with a serpent's tail, a mane of snakes, and lion's claws. Some say he has fifty heads, though this number might have included the heads of his serpentine mane. Cerberus was very dreadful and turned anyone to stone who looked at him. He was in several stories as Hade's watchdog.
