Harper Lee
Harper Lee was born and raised in Monroeville, Alabama. Her father was a newspaper editor and a proprietor, who had served as a state senator and practiced to be a lawyer in Monroeville. Lee had studied law at the University in Alabama through 1945 to 1949. She had spent a year as an exchange student in Oxford University. When she finished collage she moved to New York. To Kill a Mockingbird was Lee's first book. The books setting took place in Maycomb, Alabama, in the 1930s.
