Is abortion right? That question seems to be passed around between people often. I think that women should have the right to get an abortion. I feel this way because if abortion is illegalized women will just do it illegally. Women will find ways to do it anyways. Also i feel as though if the women knows that she would not be able to do a good job raising the child, but doesn't like adoption as an option, abortion would be the right choice. If a child is born into a bad environment it is most likely going behave badly and create problems. So the woman should have a choice if she knows the environment she lives in wouldn't be good for a child. But i do believe that the woman should only be able to get an abortion if she is in the early stage of her pregnancy. Otherwise i do agree that it is like killing a child.
Abortion

Saying that it might as well be legal because if it isnt they'll just find a way around it is like saying murder or rape might as well be legal because people are going to do it any way and will find a way around it. Ask yourself, what makes you think its your right to decide between life and death? In the constitution when it says right to life liberty and the persuit of happiness their is no exception to the right to life killing someone is all the same no matter how its being done who its being done too or how old the person is. Being able to kill your child is not a right of yours but them living IS a right of theirs. Why do people get so upset when a baby Polar bear or seal is killed and the person who did it needs to be shot, but its ok to kill a human baby? Is something wrong here?
I agree. Everyone has the right to life, as it states in the Constitution. If we start to veer away from the fundemental values upon which our society was developed, then our system of government will cease to work. One should not take the action on which to get pregnant unless they are willing to deal with the outcome. Because a baby is still a person, and therefore has the same rights as each and every one of us. However, I think that rape should be treated differently if it is not safe for the baby to be delivered.
Thanks for your opinions guys. But i still think it's right. I agree with zander a little bit though. Rape should be treated completely different.
Zander, if your body is capable of concieving a baby it is capable of giving birth to it. It is a propotion thing and that is why God made it that way it was part of the big plan, you can't do one and not the other, and if for some weird reason it is there is always the C-section that is very standard and not very risky at all for the mother.
I believe a lot with zander that abortions shouldn't be allowed but if its a rape case that should be treated different
Well, there was a case like this somewhere in South America, where a girl was raped and if she would have given birth, she could have died. I don't think abortions should be allowed, but rape i still think should be different.
Hey, just because you can conceive a child does not mean that you can necessarily give birth. If a thirteen year old girl gets pregnant, her body might not be able to handle the stress and the baby has a higher chance of dying. If the mother and the baby will die, it's better to get an abortion so that there's only one death. Or would we sacrifice the mom to avoid an abortion?
In response to both Dallas and Zander's arguments against abortion. Not that this applies to you, but if you were raped, and got impregnanted because of it, would you want the child? Getting raped is bad enough, but without abortion there would be a constant reminder of being raped.
I agree that it says in the constitution that everyone has a right to life, but saying that rape cases should be treated differently than other cases, and that if the pregnancy is not from rape you can not get an abortion, what about an abusive relationship that you may be involved in??? Personally, I wouldn't want this child either.
Pro Choice!
I soooo agree with Maddie.
you make good points maddie!! thanks.
Getting an abortion doesnt make you un-pregnant it just gives you a dead baby. No matter how it came about it is still an innocent life and killing the baby doesn't undo what happened and remember you don't have to keep it you can give it up for adoption, and correct me if Im wrong but it seems to me everybody arguing for abortion has been allowed to have been born themselves, so go home tonight and thank your mother for not killing you.
Maddy~ I can understand what your saying. I mean, getting raped is awful and no one would want that. However, Dallas is right too in saying that by getting an abortion you don't get un-pregnant, you just have a dead baby. But still, I can understand your arguement. I still think that abortion is wrong, and that people need to be willing to accept the outcome if they take a chance at getting pregnant, but rape does need to be a case by case thing.
The baby isn't what creates the reminder it is the incodent itself. Remember the option of adoption, maybe also you need to stop thinking of yourself and think of it as the difference between life and death, think about it as killing an innocent baby.
I think if you're able to have the kid, you can just give them up for adoption. That way death can be avoided. I mean, who wants more death?
Maddy I agree with you.
First, have you looked at China there are billions of people, polar bears are going extinct duh! Also think about if you were a girl, you are raped, you get pregnet. Would you want to keep a baby of someone who assultied you? No one would, unless you a major christian who thinks all babys are perfect.
A baby is a gift from god and it is an innocent life and in his eyes is perfect, how can you possibly justify killing an innocent baby.
Well Annie I don't understand how you came to the conclusion that since their are more humans than polar bears that makes it ok to kill the human babies. Besides human life is more important than polar bear life. What criteria are you using for innocent babies that are ok to kill? There are two people whose lives are effected by the inncident the mother and the baby, how is it fair that all the mother goes through is childbirth but the baby pays the ultimate price. Since two people are involved you have to ask the babies opinion on if they should live or not. Rape is a traumatic experience but the worst part is the rape not the child birth, and you dont have to keep it their is always adoption. You didn't create the baby and so it isn't your job to decide whether or not they are perfect or not that is Gods job and in his eyes they are perfect. When you say "No one would, unless you a major christian who thinks all babys are perfect", that is like saying you should only keep the perfect babies not the ones you are chroniclly sick, mentally imperfect, deformed or unplanned. Why not them? Who else had that same idea, oh yeah that was Hitler, he had the idea of a perfect society.
Dallas, you are just being a dumb Republican. Anything Bush says, you agree with. You can't even deny it.
And you can't just say that one life is more important than another. Killing 1 human will not make a HUGE difference, because there is BILLIONS OF PEOPLE, as killing 1 polar bear could mean the end of the species.
So polar bears have more priority in life than human babies? And technically, a murderer could make that same argument, that killing a human wouldn't make the same difference as killing a polar bear. And let's not call anyone dumb—we're all friends, k? We just have extreme political views. :)
So, Dallas, if you got a girl pregnant, you'd be okay with handling the responsibility of a kid right now, or going through the adoption process even though your just a teenager? Just following your thought out. I don't know anyone who would be.
Adoption is always a better alternative than abortion, because that way there's no death involved. And if you aren't ready to have a kid, why are you having sex? (Which is why rape is such a touchy subject.)
Abortion isn't murder if the unborn baby is under 4 months (a early pregnancy), but if the baby is more older it is like killing a premature baby!
It depends where you stand. Some Christians say the soul is created at conception, which means whenever you have an abortion it's murder.
Moving but my position remains the same.
What is your position Max?
Pro choice, but honestly i don't really care.
Really i don't understand what the argument is here because according to the constitution EVERYBODY has the right to life and their is no exeptions here no matter what you think.
okay dallas we get your point. but what if the woman used birth control and it failed. Not her fault. she was careful. once your a woman. then you can talk. but thanks for your ideas.
What does that have to do with it? That is too bad if it fails, it isn't your fault but is it the babies either and why should they have to pay the ultimate price?
Beth~ your right in saying if it fails, it's not their fault but still, if someone is taking a chance at getting pregnant then they need to be willing to accept the outcome. And being a girl and not has nothing to do with having an opinion, life is a gift.
yes, but the father doesn't have to carry the baby. And what if the father abandons the mother. Then yes, it does matter.
I am not completely for abortion. It actually weirds me out a little bit, but if the woman feels trapped, she needs somewhere to go and something to do. Otherwise she may illegally abort the baby.
Not everything is yes or no, white or black, dallas.
It doesn't matter where the father is it takes two no exceptions so your opinion isn't the only one Since you admit that it is wrong it is wrong always the outcome is the same it is always done the same way and the result is always a dead baby. It is always black and white because there is no middle ground in life and death.
Um, I really think that if you aren't ready to handle the consequences, you shouldn't get into situations where you COULD get pregnant.
Dallas seriously, sometimes there is a middle. So stop saying there isn't. Everybody is going to have different opinions. We are all different so we are going to think differently. So stop putting other people down just people down just because their opinion is different than yours. We all just have political differences. That's the way it is.
God's plan
More and more, I put less and less faith in the Constitution as an instrument to protect our individual rights. I think it is time we stopped fooling ourselves that a mere piece of paper with some words on it is going to ever be an effective barrier to those who would enslave us. After all, politicians and lawmakers dedicate their entire lives to learning how to most effectively influence the thinking of the greatest number of people, and one of their favorite tactics is to twist and change the meanings of words, to deny their opponents the ability to formulate an answer that most people can understand.
I am by no means the first to come to this conclusion. Kenneth W. Royce aka Boston T. Party has espoused this viewpoint for some time as has, to a lesser extent, John Silveira.
One of the things that caused me to start thinking seriously about this is the recent elation among some gunowners that the US Supreme Court may actually condescend to “decide the issue” of whether or not the second amendment applies to individuals. Now, I have my own thoughts on that matter, but I'm not going to address them here because it's irrelevent to this discussion. Instead, for those folks who think this is a wonderful development, I have a question: What are you gonna do if they decide the answer is no? More to the point, what are you going to do if it's yes?
If you assign any weight to what the black-robed activists decide on the Second Amendment, first of all, you must be willing to turn in your guns to the government on demand, if they decide the answer is no, and to forevermore concede that you were mistaken, and in fact never had a right to keep and bear arms. To do otherwise would be dishonest, and cheating on the question is in itself an admission that you don't really believe in what you claim to stand for.
But now let's consider the flip side of the coin: what if the answer is yes? What are you gonna do? I'm not talking about those of you who live in a “shall issue” jurisdiction and have paid your money to take a certified gun safety class (“certified” being the operative word, because we can't be trusted to learn gun safety through self-study or from our fathers or whatever, can we?) and then paid more money for a license (“License: a permission granted by competent authority to engage in a business or occupation or in an activity otherwise unlawful” -Webster's) because in applying and paying for that license or permit, you have already conceded and given up any claim to a right in favor of a government-controlled privilege.
Let me expound on that point, just a little more. Any jurisdiction that offers a permit or license to carry a gun in any manner, does not uphold your right to bear arms. Instead, they are offering to “allow” you to do so, subject to their rules and requirements, and revocable at any time with or without notice, but only if you will accept and concede that they, not you, decide whether or not you may do so. In so doing, you are also giving them your tacit consent to arrest and prosecute (and kill, if they deem it necessary) anyone who does carry a gun in their jurisdiction without first obtaining their permission. Ain't democracy wonderful?
But what about those of you who, for whatever reason, feel constrained from bearing that arm? If the Supreme Court were to decide today that the Second does indeed refer to an individual right, would you strap on that arm tomorrow and head out into the world to conduct your business as usual? I wouldn't recommend it, because I can just about guarantee the cops would arrest your butt and confiscate your gun just as quick as they would have yesterday; maybe even quicker, to set an example.
Consider the recent 9th Circuit court decision concerning home-built machine guns. Any student of constitutional law is aware that the entire excuse for the existence of the BATFE rests on the “interstate commerce” clause. So the question that finally made it to the 9th Circuit court was, is it legal for an individual to build himself a machine gun, for his own otherwise-legal use, if it never crosses state lines? The court ruled that it is indeed legal. So are people all over Arizona and California now building their own machine guns and showing up at local shooting ranges with them? No. Why? Because they know that they would still likely end up with a lengthy prison sentence, $250,000 fine, forfeiture of the privilege of ever owning a gun of any kind again, etc., regardless of that 9th Circuit ruling.
Because deep down we all know that any question of what the Constitution means is academic, because it is gonna be applied or not applied according to the whims of any government entity from the Feds all the way down to Jim Bob the local cop with whom you went to school; and nobody is gonna come rushing to your aid. Unless, of course, you have millions of dollars with which to grease the rails of justice.
I use the Second Amendment because it is the most contested of our rights, or at least the most in the public eye. But it is not the only one of our rights that are being denied. Take the Fourth for example, the right to be secure from unreasonable search and seizure (by whose estimation? Why, by those doing the searching and seizing, of course!). Let's just say you are driving your car on the government-owned and controlled roads (that used to be public, that is, owned by the people. Right to travel? Oh, I'm sorry, that's a privilege. The DMV told me so. ) and you are stopped and detained at a police checkpoint so they may check all your papers to ensure you are properly licensed, insured, registered, haven't been consuming anything the law doesn't approve of, don't have any guns in the vehicle, etc. and they claim to see something they want to look closer at; the way the laws are now they can pull you out of your car and search the car, and the Fourth doesn't apply. Why? Because the State has decided that, for our protection, our cars are considered "public areas". Also, I won't go into any of the various ways cops can insinuate themselves into your living room without a warrant (OK, I'll offer a couple: they could claim that a neighbor reported hearing a scream from inside your house. Of course, they can't tell you which neighbor. Or, they could bang on the door when you aren't immediately available, and your teenage kid isn't able to deny them entry, strongly enough) but either way, once they are inside, the courts have upheld their right, nay DUTY to look around for anything that may give them an excuse to search even further. For, uh, their protection, which ALWAYS trumps our rights, since they are such heroes and so much better than us lowly civilians.
So how are we lowly peasants going to make a difference? Well, there are a number of things we can do (besides educating ourselves, of course) without getting ourselves in trouble, but the first is to think about what they need from us, in order to oppress us. First, our tax support. The most basic tenet of Possum Living is to live on the least amount of the legal tender that we can manage, within the constrains of what we consider an acceptable lifestyle. Spend less. Scavenge more. Build more of our own stuff. Buy more of what we need from flea markets and garage sales. Barter more, both goods and services. That way, we are not paying sales taxes. If we buy land, find the area with the cheapest property taxes, within the general area of where we want to live. It helps that those are the areas that are also least likely to harass us for living offgrid, living in a structure they haven't inpected and approved, raising livestock, etc.
The government regularly instructs us to spend more, for the good of the economy. In my opinion, we should work towards spending less, for our own good and to reduce our financial support of the programs that steal our freedom.
Just something to think about.
Okay, I can understand what other's are saying about killing innocent lives. It's not that I'm saying that's a good thing. But I'll give you an example. A 50 year-old man rapes a 12 year old girl. Since the girl is so young, it could hurt her to give birth at such a young age. Plus, since the man was so much older, the baby would have a much greater chance of having health defects. What if the baby had something so wrong with it, that he/she wouldn't even live that long after it was born? Or be in a ton of pain if it was born? What if having the baby would hurt the mother? Would it just be safer if she got an abortion? Maybe.
I mean, I don't think that abortions should be used as birth control, but for some special cases it should be legal.
I agree with you Savannah. If the child is going to be raised in a unhealthy environment, statistics show that the child is most likely to be violent and be very uncontrollable. I believe abortion should be allowed because there are many causes why a girl could be pregnant where it's not her fault; rape, fail of birth control or a condom.
If abortion is illegal, that will only increase the number or woman doing it unsafely and possibly hurting themselves in the process.
That doesn't mean you have to kill it just give it a chance YOU are saying we should get rid of it because it will just have problems in its future, Hitler had the same idea kill all of the unwanted.
That's not fair to the girl!! Do you really think it is worth possibly killing a teenage girl to TRY to save the life of a baby that might even end up being a miscarraige anyway?!
The child will be brought up with so many problems! And sad but true, the child will probably try or succeed at committing suicide because the life they are brought up in is so bad.
And your saying that if a girl has absolutely NOTHING to do with the pregnancy because it was out of her control [rape] that she should be forced by the law to have to deal with someone else's stupid decision? And PAUL!! A rapist handling a baby! They can't deal properly with the everyday temptations apparently! So who would ever think that it would be right to put a baby in their hands!! Rapists are sick and twisted people and can't be trusted with ANYONE! Let alone a baby!!
Ok i didnt want to read all of this so most likley it has been said… abortion should be ilegal even it you get raped. you sould still have the child but it souldnt be your responibility to take care of it… so the person who rapped you should have to take care of the child
Paul! I would NOT want a rapist taking care of my child! You should just put it up for adoption so it could go to a family that would be GOOD for it!
Paul look up at my other comment i made to Dallas . ^
I DONT CARE WHAT DALLAS SAYS!!!!!
Proportion has absolutely NOTHING to do with it!!! A baby does not grow based on the size of the mother, it grows based on what and how much you feed it. If young girl who is not fully developed yet gets raped and becomes pregnant, her body can't physically hold the baby because:
1) If she is young most likely she will not be able to eat enough to feed both her and the baby. Now, im not saying this is true of ALL young mothers, but its a possibility.
2) Undeveloped girls cannot handle the size of a baby in her uterus. (I know that this is uncomfortable to hear but just listen.) If the baby is normal size throughout the pregnancy an undeveloped uterus just cannot hold it! TRUST ME, IM A GIRL, DALLAS, I KNOW. Both her and the baby can die from rupture.
3) If the hips are not wide enough than giving birth can be fatal to the baby. It will suffocate and die. I know there is always a C-section, but that can leave problems. I know this because my mother is still suffering from problems from her C-section. Want examples? OK! She had to have THREE extra surgeries from the uterus rupturing because the stiching failed. OVER AND OVER AGAIN.
So, Dallas and everyone else who is stupid enough to try to make abortion illegal, try to imagine being a girl and having to worry about all this!!!!! It's not like we dont care about the baby. Half of the time girls get an abortion because of these health risks! If abortion isn't legal I dont know what girls will have to do…wire hangers?
I think that it should be okay when a doctor says, "This girl should have an abortion." Like a medical procedure, like heart surgery or taking out your tonsils.
I agree with Lexi. If abortion is illegal, it's not going to stop women from getting them. It's just going to be done in dangerous ways.
Abortion should be legal.
Dallas, I honestly don't see how you can say that the women should give up her life for her unborn baby, especially if it is from a rape case.
*bell's about to ring. got to go!*
Suddenly i'm for abortion sense someone killed that doctor at a church.
